The Court:
Four wall court. 20'x40', 20' high back wall at least 12'. Normally played indoors in racquetball courts.

The Ball:
Slightly smaller than a tennis ball, with a small pinhole. Black in color, the bounce should be no more than 3.5ft. when dropped from 6ft.

Paddleball

History and Background!

Irish Immigrants brought a game to America called handball in the 1850's. Due to the cold weather in upstate NY, the players carved wooden paddles to hit with and so relieve the pain in their hands caused by the cold. Thus began the game of paddleball.

The Game:
Singles or doubles. Played against one wall. Points per game can be 11,15,21 and 25. This game is a little faster than all other paddle games.

Official Tournament Rules for One Wall Paddleball

The Court:
The wall is 16' in height from the bottom to top edge of the boundary line. The width is 20 feet from the outside edge on the right boundary line to the outside edge of the left boundary line.

The Ball:
Rubber, blue in color and similar to a squash ball. Shipped in a pressurized can, The Paddle Company ball is the official ball of all tournaments.

The Paddle:
18" in length and 8.25" wide. Specifications have recently been established by the NPA. While wood paddles are still in use, they are quickly becoming obsolete. New, graphite and titanium paddles featuring a molded, one piece design, absorb the shock of hitting the ball in the head of the paddle instead of in the player's elbow or shoulder. These paddles have quickly become the standard for both recreational and competitive players.
